The
Reverend Julie Cicora
Rector, St Peter's Church, Henrietta, New York
When did you begin to think about a
vocation in the Church?
I thought about it as a little girl, but I was Roman Catholic and I
didn't want to be a nun. I thought about it again when I was singing in
the choir at an ordination. It was a long and complicated path!
Why Bexley Hall?
Like many students, I was constrained by geography. Bexley was close
and convenient.
What was Bexley like?
I had almost completed an MBA at the University of Rochester so I had
some idea about graduate work. The classes I took from the Episcopal
faculty were more difficult than some of my other classes, but the
faculty was very warm and helpful, and I found the classes incredibly
stimulating. The work was the most stimulating that I have ever done.
What would you say to someone considering
Bexley, if you only had a minute?
Bexley has some incredible resources, such as great faculty members,
great library, wonderful setting. Also, they prepare you well for the
GOEs and for practical ministry. Bexley gives you a well-grounded,
practical education and teaches you how to think theologically.
What do you enjoy doing when
you’re not serving the Church?
A variety of things! I'm the mother of five teenage boys, I live on
Lake Ontario, and I like to swim, waterski, wind surf. I also play the
piano, guitar, and try to do ballet to say in shape. I like to read and
quilt in the winter, as well as downhill skiing.
Words to live by
God working through us can do infinitely more than we can ask or
imagine.
